IVECO Eurocargo

When the Eurocargo was introduced in 1991, it established new standards for medium duty trucks. Today it continues to set the standard and recent improvements show IVECO’s attention to the smallest detail. Expect the best with the new Eurocargo: it has been redesigned in and out for reliable performance in the city, on the highway, and on rough roads.

  • In the city – a 2.10m wide cab, a steering angle of 52 degrees, and compact size with a tight turning circle ensure excellent manoeuvrability with city driving challenges.
  • On the highway – high cruising speeds with greater stability and safety due to powerful, responsive engines
  • On rough roads – Eurocargo’s strong chassis and overall robustness ensures exceptional handling in all conditions

The new and improved Eurocargo design includes a stylish looking grille which aids cooling and reduces noise and fuel consumption. The overall body weight is reduced with the front panel and bumper made from injection molded recyclable plastic.

Other features include:

  • Generous windows and a total of 6 mirrors for enhanced visibility
  • Non-slip steps and handles for safe cabin access
  • Directional lights to illuminate the steps
  • Ergonomic dashboard has controls within easy reach
  • Adjustable steering wheel
  • Available as a day cab or a sleeper cab
  • ZF Manual gearboxes in 6 or 9 speed
  • ZF Eurotronic automated gearboxes standard in 4×2 range

Power

Engine

The Eurocargo is powered by the Iveco Tector F4A E28 engine, a turbocharged and intercooled 24-valve four-stroke diesel with high-pressure common-rail electronic injection. It meets both ADR 80/03 and Euro5 emissions standard and is enhanced with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). The SCR technology incorporated into the Iveco Tector engines boasts a reduction in fuel consumption and CO² emissions.Other features include:

  • 6 cylinders
  • Maximum output of 205 kW (279 hp) @ 2,700 rpm
  • Maximum torque of 950 Nm (700 lb/ft) @ 1,250-2,100 rpm
  • Oil capacity of 11.6 litres

Transmission

The Iveco Eurocargo offers manual and eurotronic automated transmissions, dependent on your configuration and needs:

  • ZF Eurotronic 9 speed automated synchromesh
  • ZF Eurotronic 6 speed automated and manual synchromesh
  • ZF 6 speed manual
  • ZF 9 speed manual
  • Allison 5 speed automatic

The automated ZF Eurotronic gearbox utilises a management system that will engage the right gear, thereby reducing clutch wear and preventing speeding. This system also lowers fuel consumption and service costs. The ZF Eurotronic 6 speed transmissions are standard across the 6×2 range.

The latest ZF manual gearbox is available in 6 or 9 speed. They are light and feature a recalibrated synchro system that makes gear shifting easy.

Chassis

The Iveco Eurocargo designs are versatile, providing the perfect support for all truck body types, including boxes, curtainsiders, refrigerated storage and flat beds. It is able to withstand the strain of unbalanced loads and direction changes with ease. The new Eurocargo retains key features of it’s tired and tested parallel beam chassis, high-tensile strength steel made with the same processes as Iveco’s heavy-duty Stralis range.  Features include:

  • Completely unobstructed at the top of the frame
  • Flat, free chassis with generous provision of fixing points – makes installation of equipment and body types easier
  • Accommodates bodies of up to 14 pallets
  • Galvanised steel cab shell – impact, stress and corrosion resistant

Suspension

The front suspension on the Eurocargo is parabolic springs with dual action hydraulic shock absorbers, fitted with a stabiliser bar. The rear suspension is quad bellow, air bag suspension with dual action hydraulic shock absorbers and stabiliser bar. An Electronically Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS) system regulates the chassis height to help maintain a level ride and assists with on-road handling.

Brakes

IVECO has enhanced all aspects of safety with their trucks; fitting the best braking systems being one of the most important improvements. The Eurocargo system comprises ventilated discs on front and rear, and an air-over-hydraulic twin-circuit system which operates through four-channel ABS. The system is aided by a standard three-mode exhaust brake.
