IVECO Stralis

The Iveco Stralis is a heavy duty truck which is ideal for intra-state work. Its design has been specially enhanced for conditions in Australia. IVECO surveyed over 10,000 customers to get their feedback on what drivers wanted, and the result is the powerful, comfortable and versatile Stralis.

The Stralis is built around three engines; an 8, 10 and 13 litre Cursor engine. You also have a choice of three cabs; Active Space-Long, Active Time, and Active Day. Whatever your application, the Stralis offers the versatility for short, medium and long-haul transport.

With its front grille and side styling, the Stralis has a high-impact, modern look. Inside you can enjoy a high level of comfort and safety. Cabs

The Iveco Stralis offers 3 cabs with a variety of different roof options. Each cab has it’s own cleverly designed features, allowing it to meet various needs.

Active Space – Long

The AS-L Stralis range has been designed to meet the needs of those wanting optimum comfort on the medium to long distances. Some features include:

  • Cube shaped environment provides lots of space to work, relax, and store belongings
  • IVECO Central Display (ICD) features intuitive graphics and information on fuel consumption, trip monitoring and vehicle performance
  • Decompression engine brake, cruise control, gear selection and radio control may all be operated from the steering wheel. Adjustable steering wheel
  • Climate control and outstanding level of acoustic insulation for a comfortable work environment
  • Adjustable, heated, lumbar supporting driver’s seat
  • A walk-through flat floor between driving area and resting area
  • Lower bunk measures 746 x 2020mm and is supported by slats
  • In the high-roof option the upper bunk is easily deployed, supported by slats, measures 784 x 1940mm and is accessed by a telescopic ladder
  • Resting space in enhanced with refrigerator, a fold-out table, plenty of storage, and clever lighting

Active Time and Active Day

The AT is recommended for medium distance work. It is available in a rigid or prime-mover option and has two variations; sleeper with standard roof, and sleeper with high roof. The AD cab provides a newly designed 2300mm wide cab suitable for day operations. Available as a prime mover and rigid applications. Some features include:

  • Soft-feel dashboard with multi-functional, adjustable steering wheel
  • Air-conditioning, cruise control, power windows and remote central locking
  • Fully adjustable and heated driver’s seat
  • IVECO Colour Display (ICD) screen featuring instruments with white back-lighting
  • Upper storage compartments with dampened opening and closing system
  • AT cabs have bunk 2090 x 670mm and privacy curtain
  • AT cabs have additional external storage compartments, accessible from inside also

Power

IVECO Stralis offers a range of driveline combinations to allow you to tailor your truck to your specific needs. IVECO engineers worked hard to ensure the drivelines were efficient and reliable as they were put through many hundreds of hours of testing.

Engines

The Stralis offers three engines, all are 6-cylinder in-line configuration with overhead camshaft and rear distribution. This ensures compact size, fewer components and structural rigidity. The torque curves of the Cursor engines peak before 1000 rpm and stay at the same level throughout their application, so power can be called upon at any time. The Cursor engines offer power, reliability and lower running costs.

Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT)

All Cursor engines are equipped with VGT, an optimized turbocharger that significantly contributes to the engine performance. It allows permanent control of the turbine speed, and so boosts pressure which is connected to the engine’s power and torque. It also boosts performance of the decompression engine brake.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)

All Cursor engines are fitted with SCR technology for exhaust gas after treatment to reduce emissions into the atmosphere and meet Euro 5 emission standards. It involves the use of highly efficient engines, a catalytic converter, and a special reservoir for the reducing fluid (AdBlue). The system benefits not only the environment, but also the productivity of the truck; more power, more torque, lower fuel consumption and less oil changes for the mileage.

Transmissions
Transmissions
The Stralis offers the 12 or 16 speed Eurotronic Automated ZF transmission with electronic clutch control. The automatic software selects the ideal ratio and protects the transmission against over-revving, thereby reducing clutch wear and fuel consumption. The gear level on the steering column and the switches on the dashboard both allow for easy gear changes.

Chassis

The frame of the Stralis has been built to meet to tough demands placed on Australian trucks. Frame variations within the Stralis models include:

  • AT 4×2 and 6×2 – equipped with medium tensile steel chassis rails (304mm x 80mm x 7.7mm)
  • AD and AD 6×4 – equipped with medium tensile steel chassis rails (304mm x 80mm x 7.7mm)
  • Prime movers are equipped with tapered end frame and turntable mounting angles
  • 8×4 – all models are equipped with high tensile steel chassis rails (257mm x 89mm x 8mm)

Suspension

An 8 air-bag suspension system with ECAS (Electronically Controlled Air Suspension) are in all 4×2, 6×2 and 6×4 models of the Stralis. The ECAS offers and enhanced ride and allows you to easily raise and lower the suspension on your truck as needed.

The 8×4 models of the Stralis are equipped with Hendrickson Primaax 460 rear air suspension.

Brakes

All Stralis models are equipped with Knorr ventilated disc brakes and 4-channel ABS/EBL as standard. They also have Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) which prevents the driven wheels from slipping when accelerating, driving tight slopes, or slippery roads.
